"Not My Circus, Not My Monkey"

This Polish proverb has become my new mantra. It helps keep me on track when writing my life story.

Basically, the proverb tells us to keep our minds on things that matter -- to us.

Throughout the day, people will probably try to draw you into their drama.

Tell them no.

Focus on what is important to your life. No, this is not selfish; it's more about prioritizing.

Do you really need to get that involved with your co-worker's problems? Must you step into some drama-filled scene of your friend just because it's there?

No.

A trip to a real circus could be fun but don't let other people turn your life into a circus.

Write your life story. That's your reality.
