Wishing vs. Wanting

What comes first -- a wish or a want?

My answer is that a want comes first, but we may get a little scared about wanting something so extraordinary or important.

So, we wish for it.

Wishing is different. Here's the definition:

"...to feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable; to want something that cannot or probably will not happen."

When you wish for something, your mind is already set to the "Do Not Deliver" status. The very nature of a wish means that you really don't think you will get it, but you want to try. (And remember what Yoda said about trying: "Do. Or do not. There is no try.")

Wanting, on the other hand, means to "possess a strong desire for something."

Hmmm...that sounds like the attitude you should have when writing your life story.

So, stop wishing. Continue wanting.

And write your life story like you really want to.
